UH-1P, Huey Restoration

A friend of ours, Dusty Wood, owner of Aircraft Structural Repair Inc., joined forces with us for the rebuild of this old Huey. After completing the build evaluation everybody got busy. As you can see, there was a lot to do!

Dusty Wood of A.S.R completed most of the fuselage structural repairs at his facility before it arrived here. While Shane was rebuilding the electrical system, Val and Shawn dove into the refinish work. Minor sheet metal work was done to repair and restore here and there. We replaced the instrument panel and avionics shelves to facilitate the new electrical system and much more.

Our customers wanted lightening bolts on the side and and that's what they got. After much deliberation and sizing up different patterns a conclusion was made.

The repairs on the tail boom were finished and the refinish work began.

New paint job.

Bob Mortenson and Dick Simpkins were performing the tracking and ballancing after having completed all of the very sucessful ground runs, riggings and test.

The following work was performed.:

0.0.T.S.O. components: New custom refinish, inside and out.

Extensive major structural repairs.

80% new electrical system with a new instrument panel.

New doors and window seals.

New Dart High landing gear system.

After completion, Salmon River Helicopters had this ship carded with the U.S Forest Service for fighting fires and are very pleased with our work and support.
